MUSCAT: Revenue generated by Oman’s three- to five-star hotels reached RO96.2 million by the end of April 2026, while total guest numbers stood at 696,911, according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The figures showed Omani nationals remained the largest group of hotel guests, with their numbers rising 3.5 per cent year-on-year to 246,934.

European visitors ranked second at 220,015 guests, followed by Asian travellers at 106,189. Visitors from GCC countries totalled 40,322, while guests from other Arab countries reached 25,714.

The number of visitors from the Americas stood at 23,992, while guests from Oceania and Africa reached 7,083 and 5,054 respectively.

Hotel occupancy across three- to five-star establishments averaged 50.2 per cent during the first four months of the year.

Despite the increase in domestic guests, overall hotel activity declined compared with the same period of 2025. Total guest numbers fell 15.9 per cent from 829,052 recorded a year earlier, while hotel revenues dropped 12.2 per cent from RO109.5 million.

The latest figures provide an early indication of tourism sector performance ahead of the peak summer travel season, which is expected to be supported by the annual Dhofar Khareef season and increased air connectivity to key destinations across Oman. — ONA
